This has been an odd winter. On the whole it’s been pretty mild but with enough periods of bitter cold that make us question why we live in Minnesota. Thankfully, we didn’t get hit (yet) with the massive snow that has tangled up the East Coast for the last several weeks.
Despite the cold, the fact that March is here is our one sure sign that Spring is truly coming. Here are a few things to take care of this time of year:
- Set your clocks back. Sunday, March 8 (2am, to be exact) is the beginning of Daylight Savings Time this year.
- Check your batteries. If your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are battery powered, this is a good time to make sure they have enough power.
- Check your car. This is also a good time to take care of routine items on your car such as getting an oil change. It’s also generally recommended that your wiper blades get changed every six months, too, so this is something else to look at.
- Check your insurance coverage. Is your child coming home from college? Did you put your boat in storage and you’re getting ready to take it (or your motorcycle) out? Did you get an expensive Christmas gift or Valentine’s Day gift? If so, you might need some special coverage.
