Your wedding is that momentous occasion celebrating the union of two great people coming together. And this one is particularly special since you’ve decided to take things up a few notches and have it on a Caribbean Island, on a mountain top in the Rockies, or another spectacular destination worthy of that wonderful day.
You have been careful and thought of everything. You’ve sorted out the details on flights, food, flowers and lodging. don’t forget destination wedding insurance. It will give you a fallback should something go wrong with the wedding.
The wedding of your dreams
While you’ve sorted out all details of your wedding, you can’t control the weather or the reliability of your vendors.
What else can you do? Consider a wedding insurance policy. Here are some things it can cover:
- Cancellation or postponement. Unfortunately, there are a number of things that can cause the event to be postponed or even cancellation. Thankfully,
- A natural disaster. Consider how a hurricane, fire or other disaster could affect your wedding. You may have to reschedule the event, and wedding insurance will reimburse you for the costs of having to postpone it.
- An illness. If you or your future spouse falls ill, the wedding will have to be postponed, costing you the deposits (and possibly more) that you’ve paid toward the event.
- Vendors don’t follow through. Perhaps you paid for a band that doesn’t show up, or a bus that’s scheduled to take the wedding party from the hotel to the wedding breaks down, causing you to hire an emergency form of transportation at a considerable cost.
- Wedding items are damaged. Perhaps the bridal grown is damaged in transport or you lose your luggage.
- Personal liability. If someone is injured at your reception or a guest damages the wedding site location, you may be liable for the costs.
